It has successfully scaled a single game to support millions of daily active users while processing over $4 billion in NFT volumes. With near-instant transactions and minimal fees, Ronin seamlessly handles millions of in-game transactions.
Situation
Ronin was preparing to launch an identity campaign aimed at engaging their community and gaining a deeper understanding of off-chain gaming behaviors. This initiative was crucial for fostering stronger connections with users and laying the foundation for future ecosystem growth. The campaign's objectives were to reward the community while collecting valuable insights into gamer activity, which would guide future development and marketing strategies.
Challenge
As a leading gaming ecosystem, Ronin wanted to better understand and segment its community, particularly focusing on off-chain gaming activity, while ensuring users retained ownership of their data. The challenge was to ingest data from Web2 sources, process it in a way that protected user privacy and sensitive information, and then enable secure on-chain submission. Ronin needed a solution that could seamlessly integrate off-chain data, ensuring both security and an engaging user experience.
Solution
Clique deployed Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) to securely capture and analyze Web2 gaming behaviors, particularly focusing on Steam, one of the largest game launchers globally. By leveraging TEEs, Clique ensured that data was processed with the highest level of confidentiality and integrity, allowing for secure and verifiable integration of off-chain data with blockchain technology.
This setup enabled Ronin to effectively collect and analyze data from Steam, segmenting users based on their playtime and gaming behaviors while safeguarding user privacy. Additionally, a prize pool of 20,000 $RON was distributed among participants through a transparent process, including a raffle for random winners and specific rewards for top players based on their gaming activity.
